Today, a meeting was held in Bishkek between the president of the Kyrgyz Football Union, Kamchybek Tashiev, and representatives of the clubs participating in the KR Premier League. The event, organized by the KFU, was also attended by leaders of the Kyrgyz Professional Football League and clubs such as "Dordoi," "Alga," "Ilbirs," "Bishkek City," "Asiagol," "Kyrgyzaltyn," "Abdysh-Ata," "Talant," "Neftchi," "Muras United," "Özgön," "Alai," "OshMU," "Bars," "Toktogul," and "Asia."

During the meeting, a decision was made to expand the number of participants in the Kyrgyz Premier League for the next football season. In 2025, 14 teams participated in the national championship, and now the club "Toktogul" has joined them, as well as the Talas team "Asia," thanks to the support of Omurbek Babanov.
Thus, the total number of teams in the championship has increased to 16.
At the meeting, reports from the KFU on the results of the 2025 season and information on the development of football infrastructure were also presented. In addition, the Kyrgyz Professional Football League announced its plans for the 2026 season.
An important point of the meeting was the announcement of the renaming of the championships: the Premier League will now be called the Higher League, and the National League will be the First League.
From the new season, the winner of the First League will receive direct promotion to the Higher League, while the team that finishes last, in 16th place, will be relegated and move to the First League. This change was also a topic of discussion at the meeting.
