This is already the sixth participation of the Kyrgyz team in the final stages of the Asian Cup.
The first success at the Asian Cup was achieved by the national team in 2006 when the U-20 team made it to the main round. In their debut match, the Kyrgyz team drew with India 1:1, with the only goal scored by Ildar Amirov.
