
Zamirbek Usenbaev (born 1951) — improvisational poet, People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR (1968), member of the Union of Writers of the USSR (1990). He was born in Frunze. Zamirbek's father is the famous poet Alymkul Usenbaev, and his mother is a talented folk singer.
Zamirbek began performing as a poet at the age of 16. His first independent works are the solo greeting "Salamdasuu Termesi" and a poetic duel with Toktosun Tynibekov.
The most popular compositions of Zamirbek include the "terme" "Youth" ("Zhashtar") and the poetic duel "About Bread" ("Nan zhenunde"), in which he performed together with Ashyraaly Aytaliev. Zamirbek is a remarkable performer of the songs of Zhenizhok, Esenaman, and his father Alymkul. The temperamental and dynamic performance style of Zamirbek Usenbaev is characteristic of the Talas regional poet school.
Zamirbek Usenbaev is a diploma winner of the World Festival of Youth and Students (Moscow, 1985) and a laureate of the State Prize named after Toktogul of the Kyrgyz Republic (1997).
