Chokmorov Suimenkul
(1939-1992)Painter. People's Artist of the USSR. Laureate of the State Prize named after Toktogul (for acting work in film). Born on November 9, 1939, in the village of Chon-Tash, Kant district.
In 1964, he graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture named after I.E. Repin.
Since 1968, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, and since 1971, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR.
Chokmorov's creative personality developed in two directions. Constantly working in various genres of painting, he also acted extensively and successfully in films. As a painter, Chokmorov had a particular interest in portrait art. His models were mainly creative individuals. In his portraits, the artist not only expressed the character of the person but also the significance of their social fate. His works are characterized by painterliness, sophistication of light, pure colors, and original composition. The works "Mother" and "My Son" are executed with great attention and warmth to nature.
Inspired by meetings and conversations with famous figures of world cinema, he painted portraits of Japanese film director Kurosawa and Italian actress Monica Vitti.
Participant in republican, all-Union, and international exhibitions. The best works of Chokmorov are kept in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev.
Awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.
