Painter. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz SSR, laureate of the State Prize of the Kyrgyz SSR named after Toktogul. One of the oldest artists in Kyrgyzstan. Born on March 28, 1906, in the city of Valuyki, Belgorod region.
In 1930, he graduated from the Voronezh Art College and, at the request of the People's Commissariat of Education of Kyrgyzstan, was sent to work in Frunze. From 1930 to 1939, he worked as a special disciplines teacher at the Central Kyrgyz Pedagogical College. In 1935, he was appointed director of the newly opened Kyrgyz State Art Gallery.
Since 1934, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
In the history of Kyrgyz art, A. Ignatiev is known as a master of lyrical and industrial landscapes. He created works dedicated to the mountainous nature, the life of highland herders, and the new constructions of socialist Kyrgyzstan. He developed the theme of the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station, which became the main theme of his work for many years.
He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the medal "For Valorous Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," four Certificates of Honor from the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR, and was included in the Book of Labor Glory of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Participant in republican, all-Union, and international exhibitions. His works are held in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev and in museums of the CIS.
