Kunakunov Maris Salidinovich
Painter. Born on August 24, 1953, in the village of Chayek, Naryn region of the Kyrgyz SSR.
In 1970, he entered the Frunze Art School. In 1989, he graduated from the Kyrgyz State Institute of Arts named after B. Beishenaliev.
Since 1976, he has been the head of the courses for artist-decorators at the Kyrgyz Republican Scientific and Methodological Center. In 1990, he became the head of the design department at the Kyrgyz State Art School named after S. Chuykov. He works as a teacher at the Kyrgyz State Art School named after S. Chuykov.
Maris Kunakunov's creative range is diverse: he is the author of genre paintings, portraits, and figurative compositions that refer to historical past. In the late 1990s, he was the first in Kyrgyz art to create a series of paintings inspired by the works of Ch. Aitmatov in an avant-garde style. The artist's works are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev, regional memorial museums, and private collections in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. He has been awarded honorary certificates from the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kyrgyzstan and other certificates. He is an excellent worker in public education of the Kyrgyz Republic. Laureate of the international award named after Ch. Aitmatov.
Member of the Union of Artists and the Union of Designers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
