Issyk-Kul University named after K. Tynystanov (IGU) was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on December 18, 1992, based on the Issyk-Kul Pedagogical Institute and is a higher educational institution with 9 faculties, 43 departments, and 2 institutes.

The Academy of Arts of the Kyrgyz Republic was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1996. The establishment of the Academy of Arts was preceded by the organization of the S.A. Chuykov Art School and the Higher Art College (1993).
The initial level of artistic education at the Academy is a 4-year art school that provides education in visual arts. The second level is a three-year study at the college, which has five faculties, and graduates receive a diploma of secondary artistic education. The most gifted graduates have the opportunity to study in graduate school.

The President of the Academy is its founder, People's Artist of the USSR, Kyrgyz El Batyr, Hero of Socialist Labor, academician, Professor Sadikov Turgunbay Sadikovich.

The National Surgical Center (NSC) of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on July 5, 1996, and is a scientific, medical, and educational complex that serves as the main republican institution on issues of hepatopancreatobiliary, gastroenterological, purulent-septic, endoscopic, and emergency surgery.

The main goal of the NSC is to further improve the effectiveness of diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients, enhance the training and retraining of surgical personnel, coordinate scientific research in surgery, and integrate with the surgical community of other countries.

The NSC consists of clinical, scientific-research, and educational-methodological departments. The center has a surgical clinic with 250 beds. The structure of the NSC includes 4 scientific-clinical sectors, each of which consists of 2 clinical departments.

Based on the clinic, there are a resuscitation department, a diagnostic department, an admission block, a medical rehabilitation department, biochemical and scientific laboratories for nonspecific intensive therapy, and intra-endoscopic studies.

The founder and permanent head of the NSC is the renowned surgeon, academician Mamakeev Mambet Mamakeevich.

Institute of Arts named after B. Beishenaliev, State Conservatory of the Kyrgyz Republic

The first specialized music institution in Kyrgyzstan was opened in 1933. It was the Kureneev Music School.

Subsequently, the Institute of Arts named after B. Beishenaliev was opened (1968). The first rector of the institute was Musulmankulov T.B., followed by People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, Professor Davlesov N.D., People's Artist of the USSR, Professor Moldobasanov K.M., and People's Artist of the USSR Sartbaeva K.S. Kyrgyz State Pedagogical University named after I. Arabayev

Kyrgyz State Pedagogical University (KGPU) was founded on the basis of the Kyrgyz Women's Pedagogical Institute named after V. Mayakovsky. The institute made an invaluable contribution to the training of Kyrgyz women teachers for schools in the republic. In 1992, the institute was transformed into the Kyrgyz State Pedagogical Institute and expanded its student body. Students became not only girls but also boys. The year 1994 is considered the year of the establishment of the State Pedagogical University.

The organizer and first rector was Zholdosheva A., followed by Musaev Zh., Toktomambetova K., Abduazizova N., Tatibekova Zh.S., Achylova R.A., Kurganov Z.K., Borubaev A.A., Bekbalaev A.A., and currently, the rector is corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Asankanov Ablabek Asankanovich.

The first large-scale scientific research institution in Kyrgyzstan was established in Frunze in 1943. It was the Kyrgyz branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (KirFAN USSR). In 1954, based on this branch, the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR was formed. In 1992, after the formation of an independent sovereign state on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the Academy of Sciences of the republic was transformed into the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR) by the Decree of the President of the republic.

The national Academy of Sciences plays a significant role in the development of science in Kyrgyzstan. The first higher educational institution in Kyrgyzstan was established in 1931 in the city of Frunze. It was the Kyrgyz State Pedagogical Institute named after M.V. Frunze.

Based on this institute, the Kyrgyz State University was organized in 1951, which was the only university in the republic until 1992. By the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1993, the flagship of higher education in the republic received the status of a national university, and in 2002 it was renamed Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn.

In 1931, by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Kyrgyz SSR and the Central Asian Bureau of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks), the Kyrgyz Veterinary Institute was established on the basis of the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Veterinary Institute and the agricultural technical school, now known as the Kyrgyz Agricultural University (KAU).

The university has zootechnical, veterinary, agronomic, hydromelioration, economic, and technological faculties, which have 50 departments and more than 90 educational laboratories.

In the first 10 years of the institute, the directors were: Associate Professor Bauze E.I., Panov A.G., Professor Mokeyev V.V., Associate Professor Mamyrav O.D., Tatarintsev I.I., Paramonov P.V., Nechaev N.V., Cherebkov V.N., Ragozin A.V., Associate Professor Lushchikhin M.N. (1944-1953), Khudaybergenov D.K. (1953-1962), the rector of the institute (such a position was introduced in 1961) became Professor Arabayev E.I. (1962-1979), academician Akimaliev D.J. (1979-1987). The Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KGMA), established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1996, is the leading academic and expert organization in the healthcare sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In 1939, the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute (KGMI), the predecessor of KGMA, was established in the city of Frunze. The evacuation of the Leningrad and Kharkov institutes during the war and their placement on the basis of KGMI gave a strong impetus to the further development of the institute.

The first leaders of the institute were Professors Elbert B.Ya. (1938-1940), Uderman Sh.I. (1940-1941), Shchupik P.L. (1941-1944), Petukhov N.D. (1944-1949). Since 1949, the leaders of KGMI have been prominent representatives of the Kyrgyz intelligentsia - the first Kyrgyz professors in medicine: Akhunbaev I.K., Aydaraliev A.A., Nurgazieva F.N., Isabaeva V.A., Daniyarov S.B., Murzaliev A.M.
The granting of KGMI the status of an Academy raised the standards of activity of the renewed organization, and since then, KGMA has been headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Akylbekov Iskender Kadyrbekovich.

Osh State University

Osh State University (OSU) was established in 1992 on the basis of the state pedagogical institute opened in 1951. The pedagogical institute was once led by Professors R. Tabaldiev, F. Polovikov, A. Omuraliev, B. Eshmambetov, T. Aitmurzayev, M. Botbaeva, R. Kuluyev, S. Zhumagulov, A. Anarbaev, B. Beshimov. Since 1998, the rector of the university has been Doctor of Chemical Sciences, academician Murzubraimov Bektemir Murzubraimovich.

At 17 faculties and 88 departments, graduates are trained in 44 specialties.

OSU is the flagship of education, science, and culture in the southern region. More than 60 thousand of its graduates are now fruitfully working in the fields of education, science, culture, medicine, and other sectors of the national economy.

Kyrgyz Technical University (KTU) was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in 1992 on the basis of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute (FPI), which was founded in 1954. Most of the technical higher educational institutions currently existing in Kyrgyzstan originated from branches or faculties of FPI. The largest of them are KGUSTA and KG-MI.

KTU has 4 faculties: technological, energy, transport and mechanical engineering, and information technology.
The organizer and first rector of FPI was Professor Sukhomlinov G.A. In subsequent years, the rectors were: Professors Zhuravlev V.M., Mambetov Sh.A., Usubamatov R.N. Currently, the rector is a corresponding member of the NAS KR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Brimkulov Ulan Nurgazievich.

The Kyrgyz State Institute of Physical Culture (KGIFC) was opened in 1955. It trains specialists in physical culture, sports, and pre-conscription physical training.

The structure of KGIFC includes a pre-university training center, a distance learning department, a master's program, a graduate school, a branch in the city of Jalal-Abad, and a scientific research laboratory. The Olympic Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic operates based on the institute.

The Kyrgyz Mining and Metallurgical Institute (KG-MI) was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 2, 1993, based on the mining and geological faculty of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute.

KG-MI is a specialized educational institution in the Central Asian region, with the main tasks of training highly qualified engineers in 6 closely related fields of science and technology: geology, mining, metallurgy, mining economics, ecology, informatics, and computer engineering; conducting scientific research and experimental design work, improving the qualifications and retraining of engineering and technical personnel.

The institute consists of 4 faculties and trains engineers in 24 specialties.

The organizer and first rector of KG-MI was academician Asanaliev Usengazy Asanalievich, whose name the institute has borne since 1997.
Currently, the rector of the institute is Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, academician, Professor Osmonbetov Kubat Osmonbetovich.

National Center for Cardiology and Therapy of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic

The National Center for Cardiology and Therapy (NCCT) of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic was established by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and is the highest state scientific medical organization in cardiology, internal medicine, and mountain medicine.

The NCCT has an inpatient unit with 300 multi-profile beds, a polyclinic, scientific-diagnostic laboratories equipped with modern high-tech equipment, as well as a high-altitude inpatient unit at the Too-Ashuu pass.

Based on the NCCT, departments of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University operate. The headquarters of the Central Asian Cardiologists Association and the editorial office of the Central Asian Medical Journal are also located here.

The NCCT collaborates with leading centers in the USA, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, India, and other countries.
Since its founding (1977), the NCCT has been headed by the renowned scientist, Hero of Socialist Labor, academician, Professor Mirrahimov Mirsaid Mirhamidovich.
