This weekend, a fair took place at the Turdakuna Usubaliev Square in Bishkek, attracting the attention of local residents. An especially interesting booth drew buyers—horse meat was sold at a price of 699 soms per kilogram. Additionally, the fair offered a wide range of meat products, including beef, lamb, and poultry.

Buruul Doletbayeva, a pensioner from Bishkek and a member of the veteran choir "Red Carnation," happily shared her impressions. She filled her basket with vegetables, fruits, and meat purchased from various sellers.

– I really liked the diverse selection of goods at the fair and the opportunity to try everything. It’s wonderful that it will be open until the May holidays. There’s no need to buy potatoes by the sack when you can just come and buy fresh products. I thank the organizers and the president for keeping an eye on prices, - noted Buruul Doletbayeva.

In the second half of Saturday, the fair was full of life: buyers were actively inquiring about the composition of sausages and rolls. Children showed particular interest in dried sausages, which producers call "almost meat chips."

The fair featured products from various family meat producers. For instance, the Larin family, who have been producing smoked goods for many years, was well-known among buyers, and their products sold out quickly. The "Soviet" sausages, "Toybos," and products from other brands were also popular.

Fairs dedicated to socially significant products and consumer goods take place in Bishkek every week. According to Iskak Anarbekov, the curator of these events and head of the project implementation sector at the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture, the products must meet high quality standards: they must be environmentally friendly and have the appropriate certificates. Sellers must provide the necessary documents from the district agricultural administration.

– We strive to make the fair not only a place for shopping but also a platform for communication among city residents. Sellers receive useful information, while residents get recommendations for a healthy lifestyle. Creative groups and theaters also perform at the fairs, creating a festive atmosphere, - added Anarbekov.

Fairs are held not only at Turdakuna Usubaliev Square but also in the Vostok-5 microdistrict on Torokul Aitmatov Street, as well as in the 12th microdistrict. The main goal is to support local producers, agro-industrial enterprises, and private entrepreneurs, as well as to sell agricultural products at wholesale prices for city residents.

The Ministry of Agriculture invites entrepreneurs who wish to sell their products. For more information, you can contact the following numbers: (0312) 66-14-22, 0702 70 20 00.

Saturday-Sunday fairs in Bishkek will continue until mid-May 2026.
