According to The Verge, unlike Wikipedia, Grokipedia does not seem to allow users to edit articles. Journalists noticed an edit button on several pages, but clicking it only opened the edit history without indicating authors, and changes could not be made.
Each article in Grokipedia is accompanied by a note stating that the facts have been verified using the Grok artificial intelligence, also developed by xAI. Some of the materials are based on articles from Wikipedia, as noted: "Content adapted from Wikipedia." Some pages, such as the one about PlayStation 5, are identical to the original entries.
However, there are discrepancies in Grokipedia. For example, while Wikipedia claims that there is almost unanimous scientific consensus regarding human impact on climate change, Grokipedia presents it differently: it states that such claims are "based on selective studies," and that media and organizations like Greenpeace "amplify public alarm" and influence policy.
Elon Musk has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with Wikipedia, accusing it of bias and calling for funding to be halted until balance in editorial powers is restored. In January 2025, he again spoke out against the platform after a statement appeared in an article about him claiming that his gesture with a raised hand was perceived by many as a Nazi salute.
