The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, spoke at a youth forum in Bishkek, where he outlined ambitious plans to eliminate the electricity deficit in the country within the next 2-3 years and to begin exporting electricity. “At the last forum, we discussed the crucial goal of achieving energy independence. The electricity deficit is not a new problem; it arose due to ineffective management in previous years. Despite the commissioning of small hydropower plants and the reconstruction of large facilities, the demand for electricity is still not fully met,” he stated.
Japarov also noted that in recent years, many social facilities, large buildings, and industrial enterprises have been constructed in the country, while the energy sector has not always been able to adapt to such rapid development.
Nevertheless, the president is confident that in the next 2-3 years, the republic will be able to eliminate the electricity deficit and start exporting electricity.
“Large projects in this area will soon be implemented. If water was previously the main source of electricity, now we are actively developing alternative sources such as solar and wind energy,” he added.
