According to preliminary information, the questioning is part of an investigation into a case related to calls for mass riots. However, it is still unclear whether this is connected to the case involving Temirlan Sultanbekov and Kadyirbek Atambaev.
Syimyk Japykeev can be considered one of the most prominent political figures of 2020, as he actively participated in the events of October. After Sadyr Japarov was appointed Prime Minister, Japykeev became the chairman of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes. In March 2021, this service was disbanded, but prior to that, Japykeev was awarded the title of Major General of the Financial Police. Later, he was appointed prosecutor of the Issyk-Kul region, but just two months later, he resigned, citing a desire to pay more attention to his health.
At the moment, Japykeev is not participating in political or public life.
