The agency is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances under which this photograph was taken, as well as to explore possible contacts between Amangaziev and representatives of criminal structures.
It should be noted that the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan rejected Ilyas Amangaziev's application for registration in the multi-mandate district No. 25. The reason for the rejection was information from the Main Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which indicated a photograph of Amangaziev with the criminal authority Kamchy Asanbek.
During the investigation, Amangaziev was summoned for questioning by the investigative service and confirmed his presence in the photograph. However, he refused to participate in the meeting of the working group of the Central Election Commission.
According to part 11 of Article 61 of the Constitutional Law "On Elections," a candidate's registration may be denied if they are or have been on preventive registration as being associated with an organized crime group.
It is worth recalling that Ilyas Amangaziev became widely known after an incident in which he was seen swimming in a children's pool in the yard of a residential building on Panfilov Street. In 2018, he was dismissed from the State National Security Committee following a service investigation.
