Koichieva submitted her application to the electoral commission on October 20. However, following a review, the working group concluded that she did not meet the legal requirements for candidates for deputies and recommended denying her registration.

As stated in the report of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security dated October 28, 2025, Venera Koichieva does not meet the requirements of part 4 of Article 59 of the Constitutional Law "On the Elections of the President and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh," regarding permanent residence in the territory of Kyrgyzstan for the last five years prior to her nomination as a candidate. From October 20, 2021, to October 10, 2022, she spent 269 days outside the country. In addition, from October 26, 2022, to October 13, 2023, her absence amounted to 186 days, as reported by the CEC.
It should be reminded that Venera Koichieva previously held the position of chief producer of the Kyrgyz service of the BBC in London.
