Major fire in Chui region engulfed over 400 hectares — what was burned

A fire that broke out on November 26 engulfed a significant portion of the open territory of the state natural reserve in the Tokmok area. The fire spread rapidly due to strong winds.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, emergency services and other agencies were dispatched to the scene immediately after the alarm. In the first hours of firefighting, 63 people, 3 fire crews, 2 water trucks, drones, and employees from the forestry service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were involved. As the situation worsened, the number of personnel significantly increased.

By order of the Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Azhikeev, additional units were sent to the fire zone. By 6:30 PM, 159 personnel, 9 fire crews, 2 water trucks, 4 motor pumps, mobile pumping stations, and drones were engaged in firefighting.

To coordinate actions at the border of Tokmok and the Chui region, an operational headquarters was established. First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Azamat Mambetov arrived at the scene to assess the situation, the availability of water, the condition of equipment, and the work of firefighters, who had been battling the blaze for over 11 hours. The situation was also evaluated from the air using drones.

According to the headquarters, the fire damaged 2 sheds, destroyed 1000 bales of hay, one utility building, a "Muravey" motor vehicle, and affected about 400 hectares of reeds, shrubs, and forest plantations.



The fire was localized by 8:30 PM, and its complete extinguishment occurred on the night of November 27 at 12:41 AM. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, no one was injured.

To prevent re-ignition, 6 rescuers, a mobile pumping station, and the "AR-2" equipment from the Chui regional emergency department continue to be on-site. The situation is under constant control.
