Heads of State of Central Asia Appeal to UN Member States to Support Kyrgyzstan's Candidacy for the Security Council

During the briefing, participants informed the international community about the signed Appeal of the heads of state of the region, which contains a call for UN member states to support Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for the elections of non-permanent members of the Security Council for 2027-2028.

Ulugbek Lapasov noted that the nomination of the Kyrgyz Republic as a non-permanent member of the Security Council emphasizes the desire of Central Asian countries to strengthen their contribution to global security and peace. The region's leaders highlighted the importance of supporting Kyrgyzstan's application, pointing to its significant role in making international decisions.
Aida Kasymalieva, Kyrgyzstan's Permanent Representative to the UN, thanked her colleagues from Central Asia for their support, emphasizing that such unity reflects the region's shared commitment to peace, dialogue, and a constructive multilateral approach.

If elected successfully, Kyrgyzstan promises to be a responsible and principled member of the Security Council, actively working to strengthen international security and ensuring that the voices of all regions, especially developing and small states, are heard.
