The summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take place in Bishkek on November 27, where a key aspect will be the improvement of cooperation in ensuring regional stability and combating terrorism and extremism.
According to information provided by the CSTO Secretariat to IA "Kabar," a number of important issues concerning international and regional security are planned to be discussed during the event, as well as summarizing the organization's work during the intersessional period.
At this summit, the presidency of the CSTO will be transferred from Kyrgyzstan to Russia, which implies that the Russian side will present its priorities for the upcoming period.
In accordance with the established procedure for the rotation of leadership, Kyrgyzstan will propose a candidate for the position of CSTO Secretary General for approval by the presidents of the member states.
The Secretariat notes: "A comprehensive package of documents concerning various aspects of strengthening collective security will be presented for consideration by the heads of state."
Among the issues to be discussed is the adoption of the Declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council, which will assess the current situation in the world and in the CSTO area of responsibility, as well as propose approaches to strengthen peace and stability in the region.”
