The head of the GKNB Tashiev arrived in the city of Manas for a meeting of the generals of the CIS Border Troops.

The 91st meeting of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops of the CIS countries has started in Manas.

The meeting is chaired by Army General Vladimir Kulishov, who holds the position of First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and Head of the Border Service.

The opening of the meeting took place under the leadership of Kamchybek Tashiev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the State Committee for National Security. He emphasized the importance of this forum for ensuring collective security among CIS countries and highlighted the need for joint efforts in combating illegal migration.

Kamchybek Tashiev noted: “In the context of global changes, when external security threats require us not only to respond quickly but also to engage in strategic planning, it is essential to ensure stability at the borders of our countries.”

In his speech, he also highlighted the role of digitalization in information exchange, combating transnational crime and illegal migration, as well as in enhancing the qualifications of border guards.

The head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan emphasized the importance of training specialists in light of new challenges, such as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for smuggling and cyberattacks.

He added that Manas, symbolizing the unity and freedom of the Kyrgyz people, is a suitable place for developing solutions that contribute to strengthening security at the borders of CIS countries.

Delegations from the border services of Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and Russia are participating in the meeting. Representatives of the Coordination Service of the CSTO, as well as leaders and officials from the structures of the CIS, CSTO, SCO, and the International Union of Veterans of Border Services are also present.

Particular attention at the meeting is given to the participation of authorized representatives of the President of Kyrgyzstan in the Batken, Osh, and Jalal-Abad regions, as well as leaders of the border regions of Tajikistan — the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and the Sughd Region.

According to the State Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, their presence indicates an increased interest of border regions in security issues and the improvement of interstate cooperation.

The Presidential Representative in the Jalal-Abad region, Tilek Tekebaev, noted that the participation of representatives from the border regions of Tajikistan gives special significance to the meeting, strengthening good-neighborly relations and strategic cooperation in the field of security. “The Jalal-Abad region is a key area through which important trade and economic routes connect our countries. I am confident that the outcomes of today’s meeting will be an important step towards strengthening trust, peace, and stability at our borders,” he added.

The agenda of the meeting includes reports on the current situation at the external borders of CIS countries and their dynamics, as well as a discussion of the results of the work of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops for 2025 and tasks for 2026. Participants will also consider research and educational initiatives, issues of enhancing the effectiveness of joint operations, and combating modern threats such as terrorism, drug trafficking, and cyber threats.
