On the Bishkek—Osh highway, there was an incident involving a fuel truck that overturned on the bridge over the Naryn River — video from the scene<{short}>Turmush — Today, January 14, around 10:00 AM, a fuel truck transporting heavy fuel oil overturned on the bridge in the village of Kүrpsay, leading to a fuel leak into the Naryn River, local residents reported to Turmush correspondent.

Eyewitnesses claim that the incident disrupted traffic on the highway for more than an hour.

The road is currently open for one-way traffic, and vehicles can pass through the section where the heavy fuel oil spill occurred.

According to reports, the truck carrying lubricants was heading towards Osh from Bishkek when it overturned after losing control on the bridge.



The Traffic Safety Department of the Jalal-Abad Regional Police noted that information about the incident is currently being clarified, and it is still unknown how much heavy fuel oil entered the river.

Durusbek Zalimbekov, head of the Jalal-Abad Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, reported that ecologists have been dispatched to the accident site to collect water samples. This will help determine the extent of the damage. Following the inspection, administrative protocols will be drawn up, and fines will be imposed on those responsible.

It is worth noting that the Naryn River is a source of drinking water and irrigation for the residents of the towns of Tash-Kumyr, Shamaldy-Say, and the population of the rural area of Üch-Korgon in the Aksy district.
