- Since the beginning of 2023, 252.5 thousand tons of meat have been produced in live weight in the republic. This data was provided by the National Statistical Committee.
The growth in meat production in the republic is associated with an increase in the livestock population, including pigs.

The National Statistical Committee conducted a comparison of data at the end of 2022 with data at the end of 2023: horses — 542.5 thousand (+1.6%); cattle — 1 million 802.3 thousand (+1.1%); sheep and goats — 6 million 216.2 thousand (+0.2%).

The largest share of the total volume is occupied by poultry, sheep, goats, and cows.

According to the data, the largest number of cattle is found in the Osh region — 404 thousand heads (22%), followed by the Jalal-Abad region with 375.2 thousand (20%) and the Chui region with 314 thousand (17.4%).

The smallest livestock population is recorded in the Talas region — 69.4 thousand (4%).

In 2023, there is an increase in the pig population, which is raised in state and collective farms.

The majority of pigs in Kyrgyzstan are kept in private peasant and household farms. This year, they accounted for 21 thousand 276 heads out of a total of 29 thousand 676.

However, according to statistics, this is 1 thousand 401 units less compared to 2022.

At the same time, the pig population in state and collective farms increased by 283.5%, amounting to 8 thousand 400 heads. For comparison, in 2022, their number was only 2 thousand 963.
