Turmush continues to share stories of Kyrgyzstani people living abroad. This time, in the "Our People Abroad" section, we will meet Elnura Sharshenova, a native of the village of Chon-Daly, located in the Issyk-Ata district of Chui region.
Since 2015, Elnura has been living in picturesque Alanya, which is located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. In this resort city, she met her love — a Turk, with whom she has a son. Elnura was born in 1991 and graduated from the Kubanychbek Malikov school. She is the middle child in her family, having an older sister and brother, as well as a younger sister. Currently, her parents remain in their native village, while Elnura has settled in Turkey.

“My first trip abroad took place in 2015, right after I graduated from university. I dreamed of becoming an English translator since childhood. Learning languages has always inspired me to travel, so in 2014, I completed my studies and the following year went to Turkey to see the world and gain experience in my profession. Turkey, being a popular tourist destination, allowed me to visit many cities, including Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya, and Marmaris. In 2016, I left Istanbul for Bahrain on a two-year contract, where I worked until the end of 2018,” shares Elnura.

Now, she incorporates working at a hotel reception in the summer and online work as an SMM specialist into her daily routine. Her son is 4 years old and already attends kindergarten, where he speaks Turkish, Russian, and Kyrgyz fluently. Her husband is an agronomist who manages greenhouses. Elnura notes that her parents often visit her in winter.

Alanya is famous for its warm climate and mild summers. “It never snows here, and the sun shines almost year-round. The locals are known for their kindness and openness. The economy and politics of Turkey are stable, and law and order are strictly maintained. Corruption in the form of bribes is almost non-existent,” she says about life in this city.

Elnura also touches on the topic of religion in Alanya, where half of the population is devoted to faith, while the other half is less interested in it. There are many people who speak foreign languages, especially in tourist areas, but the main language of communication remains Turkish. She emphasizes that the city is peaceful, and the locals are very respectful of others' property.

Speaking about the future, Elnura shares her dream: “I would like to create an organization for Kyrgyz girls in Turkey. I plan to provide online education, help with employment, and support women on maternity leave, as communication in the Kyrgyz language is greatly lacking here.”
In her free time, she enjoys many hobbies, including eyelash extensions and making paper flowers. Elnura also often returns to Kyrgyzstan, which she misses very much.

She recalls how she met her husband: “We met in 2015 when I was working in a shopping center. He was a friend of one of my colleagues, and that’s how we started communicating. Four years after we met, we got married. I like his kindness and education, as well as the fact that he waited for me for four years.”
Laughing, Elnura shares that in her village, her friends started calling her “Jackie Chan's daughter” because they found a resemblance to the famous actor in her.
