The production of drones near Astana will be organized with the participation of convicts, reports Orda.kz, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of this project, the state enterprise "Enbek" is providing employment for convicts. Repair work has been carried out in the colony, and now machines for production have been installed. This is not just assembly, but the creation of a full-fledged process.
“We plan to organize complete drone production, where the body will be manufactured on-site. Additionally, circuit boards and software will be developed here,” shared Ermek Shurmanov, head of the state enterprise "Enbek".
Work will be organized with the participation of the convicts themselves, with whom official employment contracts will be signed, defining their salary, work schedule, and vacation rights. The earned funds will be directed towards repaying debts and alimony, as well as personal needs. There is no cash payment system in the colonies; all money is credited to an account that can be used for purchases in local stores.
In the penal system, there are approximately 23,000 able-bodied convicts, of which over 18,000 are already employed. In addition to drones, clothing, footwear, furniture, dishes, building materials, as well as street bins and benches, and structures for playgrounds are produced in the colonies of Kazakhstan. There are also greenhouses where vegetables are grown.
