The Cabinet recommends Talas farmers to update their bean varieties and explore other areas.
She noted that the region has rich reserves of beans, and local residents urgently need a plant to process this crop.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev acknowledged the problem with beans, as their prices depend on global market conditions.
He reported that the price of beans has fallen from $1600 to $930 per ton.
“We conducted a market analysis and concluded that there is a need to implement fumigation of beans and their further packaging,” the minister added.
Furthermore, Torobaev noted that beans are a source of high protein content, and there is a possibility of including them in the diets of military personnel and schoolchildren.
He also mentioned that the size of beans in Talas has significantly decreased, and farmers should update their varieties, possibly considering alternative crops for cultivation.
The minister shared that in 2025, the government purchased 1000 tons of beans from farmers at a price of 95 soms per kilogram.
Currently, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic is analyzing the situation and preparing for spring field and economic activities in 2026.
