When will the construction of the BDR in Kara-Balta begin? - Deputy
In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev noted that the BDR project already exists on the Kara-Balta River.
He also reported that 27 water facilities are planned to be built in the Chui region. However, the deputy emphasized the unsatisfactory condition of the irrigation canals.
Bakyt Torobaev reminded that at the time of his appointment, only 6,000 kilometers of canals out of 28,000 were under the Ministry of Agriculture. Since then, it has been possible to add another 2,000 kilometers to the balance, and the plan is to increase their number to 10,000 kilometers.
Nevertheless, the deputy pointed out the critical situation with irrigation canals in Kara-Balta and other areas of the Chui region. Many of them are in emergency condition, silted up, or not functioning at all, leading to crop losses and water shortages during the dry months.
At this time, information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic was being discussed regarding preparations for spring fieldwork and agricultural activities in 2026 in the country.
