At the Altai State University, a meeting was held to discuss the plans of the Scientific and Educational Center for Altai Studies and Turkology "Big Altai" for the year 2026. One of the key tasks will be to deepen international cooperation, implement new educational initiatives, and actively engage youth in project activities.
The meeting was attended by both staff and freelance employees of the center, as well as representatives from Central Asian countries. The event was led by the rector of AltSU, Sergey Bocharov, and the head of the Scientific and Educational Center, Yulia Lysenko.
Next year, special attention will be given to working with youth, with a focus on attracting students and high school students to various projects. In addition to traditional events such as international conferences and summer schools for young Turkologists, new formats proposed by partner universities are planned to be introduced.
Another important direction will be cooperation with educators. Methodological workshops and educational programs aimed at studying the historical and cultural aspects of modern Turkic-speaking peoples are planned for teachers and students of secondary and general education schools.
Scientists from the center, representing Russia and Central Asia, will continue to conduct lectures and seminars, as well as participate in additional education programs and academic exchanges. Students from various countries will be actively involved in international expeditions.
As part of the annual program, events dedicated to significant anniversaries in the history of the Turkic world are also planned. During the celebration of Nauryz, the "Media Nauryz 2026" competition will begin, aimed at promoting the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples.
Yulia Lysenko noted that early in the year, the first successes were achieved: an exhibition of the center opened in Moscow, and an international team of authors began work on the third volume of the "Chronicles of Turkic Civilization." Among the center's new partners are scientific and educational institutions from Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, and Uzbekistan, and further expansion of the partnership network is expected throughout the year.
