Daniel Azhiev Detained in Tokmok

On March 6, Daniel Azhiev was detained in Tokmok, sources from the AKIpress editorial office reported.

According to preliminary data, the police were conducting investigative operations.

In 2024, Daniel Azhiev was sentenced to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was found guilty on several articles of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, including Article 160 Part 1 and Article 161.

He was also banned from doing business for two years, with his sentence to be served in a general regime colony and a fine of 220,000 soms.

Later, in 2026, President Sadyr Japarov pardoned him, and on February 17, Azhiev was released.

The head of state commented on Azhiev's release, stating that he left prison by helicopter; however, the helicopter was soon returned, after which Azhiev left by car.
