Banks of Kyrgyzstan undergo training in green banking and environmental risk management

- A training session for commercial banks and financial organizations in Kyrgyzstan dedicated to green banking and Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) took place in Bishkek. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.

This training was organized as part of the project "Overcoming Barriers to Climate Financing in Central Asia" and aimed at developing green financing as well as implementing international standards for managing environmental and social risks in the banking sector.

During the training, participants studied the implementation of the ESRM system in the credit cycle, methods for assessing environmental and social risks, as well as procedures for comprehensive project due diligence. Attention was also given to risk monitoring and the use of information systems for managing relevant data.

The Ministry of Economy noted that the development of green banking is a key aspect of Kyrgyzstan's transition to a sustainable ecology. This approach includes the creation of financial products for projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, green construction, and sustainable agriculture.
