Starting from December 30 at 9:00 AM, methane filling stations across Uzbekistan will once again be available to customers 24 hours a day. This was announced in a statement by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic, published on its Telegram channel.
The ministry noted that this mode of operation will allow car owners to refuel at any time of the day, including nighttime hours, which will eliminate the formation of queues.
It is worth recalling that on December 11 of this year, the government of Uzbekistan imposed temporary restrictions on the operation of methane filling stations. This was due to a decrease in natural gas imports caused by technical malfunctions in the gas pipeline of one of the neighboring countries, most likely Turkmenistan. As a result, the filling stations operated on a reduced schedule, only a few hours a day for more than two weeks.
According to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, from January to November 2025, the country imported natural gas worth $1.45 billion, with Turkmenistan and Russia being the main suppliers. In November of this year, a record volume of supplies was recorded, exceeding $334 million. However, as analysts point out, compared to the same period last year, the volume of "blue fuel" supplies decreased by only 1.2%.
Restrictions on the operation of methane filling stations in Uzbekistan were also observed last year. For instance, on February 17, 2024, it was announced that all automotive gas filling compressor stations (AGNKS) would be suspended due to an emergency shutdown on the high-voltage power lines "L-Gazli-1" and "L-Gazli-2" in the Bukhara region. This led to the failure of eight gas pumping units and, consequently, to a decrease in gas volume and pressure in the main gas pipelines. The restrictions on the activities of AGNKS were fully lifted only on March 7.
