The agency noted that the reason for the decrease in natural gas imports is related to technical malfunctions in the gas pipeline in a neighboring country. At the same time, the information about the specific state was not disclosed. The Ministry of Energy assured that all necessary measures are being taken to improve the situation.

The main task is to ensure a stable fuel supply for households and social institutions, such as schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, and thermal power plants. In this regard, it was decided to limit the operation of gas stations that serve motorists using methane.

As clarified by the Ministry of Energy, these measures are temporary, and during this period, gas stations will operate according to approved plans and schedules agreed upon with local khokimiyats (administrations of cities and districts).

"Work is underway to normalize gas pressure. Additional information will be provided later," the official statement from the ministry says.

Similar restrictions were already in place last year. On February 17, 2024, the authorities of Uzbekistan announced a temporary suspension of the operation of all automotive gas filling compressor stations (AGNKS) due to accidents on the high-voltage power lines "L-Gazli-1" and "L-Gazli-2" in the Bukhara region. This led to the failure of eight gas pumping units, which, in turn, reduced the volume of gas and pressure in the main gas pipelines.

The restrictions on the operation of AGNKS were completely lifted on March 7.
