On Thursday, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Evgeny Kochetov informed journalists that the authorities plan to recommend performers avoid singing songs that may be perceived as illegal.
Kochetov explained that "we will provide support to local executive bodies." The contracts of artists will outline their obligations that they must adhere to. These obligations primarily concern the performance of compositions that do not threaten the national order, do not support pornography, and do not promote drugs.
According to him, this is a list of all possible prohibited topics. If an artist complies with these conditions, they will be able to perform in various cities across the country.
“This is a quite reasonable and correct decision,” noted the deputy minister.
When asked if this means that performers with prohibited themes in their work will not be able to perform in Kazakhstan, Kochetov replied: “We will advise avoiding such musical works.”
