In this video, which was released on Thursday evening and quickly gained popularity, the Obamas are presented in an inappropriate manner. By Friday morning, the clip had gathered several thousand likes.
Republican Senator Tim Scott, the only Black member of Congress from his party, urged Trump to remove the content, stating on platform X: "I hope this is fake, as it is the most racist thing I have ever seen from the White House. The President must take it down."
Democratic leader in Congress Hakeem Jeffries also condemned the video, emphasizing the need for an immediate response from Republicans: "Every Republican must denounce this disgusting intolerance from Trump."
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt dismissed the accusations of racism, stating: "This is just part of a video where President Trump is depicted as the king of the jungle, and the Democrats as characters from 'The Lion King.' Stop spreading false narratives."
Trump's actions were also criticized by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democratic Congressman Herb Konaway. Ben Rhodes, a former national security advisor, added: "Let Trump and his racist supporters be tormented by the thought that future generations will remember Obama as a symbol of inspiration, and him as a dark stain in history."
As a result of the criticism, Donald Trump was forced to delete his post with the video.
According to an unnamed source from CNN, "this happened due to a White House staff error, and the post was taken down."
