A magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred in Turkey: houses destroyed

Late in the evening on October 27, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 occurred in Turkey, as reported by CNN Türk.

The tremors were felt in cities such as Balıkesir, Istanbul, Izmir, and Bursa, as well as in other regions of the country.

The epicenter was located in the western part of Turkey, just 9 kilometers from the town of Sındırgı, where there have been reports of power outages and the collapse of several buildings.

Local authorities reported localized damage. Residents left their homes in anticipation of possible aftershocks and further destruction. Emergency services are working at the sites of the incidents.
