According to information obtained from sources in American and Israeli intelligence, the new Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, may be in a state of unconsciousness. This was reported by The Times.

According to the publication, Khamenei is undergoing treatment in Qom, and his condition is assessed as serious. He is unable to participate in decision-making in the country.

Qom, where Khamenei is receiving treatment, is a holy city for Shiites and is located about 130 kilometers from Tehran. His father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the beginning of the war, is also expected to be buried here. A mausoleum is being built in Qom for this purpose.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that Khamenei had sustained injuries to his legs; however, later the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed the fact of his injury, adding that he "feels well."

Since his election as Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly.
