53-year-old Gaddafi was shot in his home when he was attacked by unknown assailants. Before the fall of the regime in 2011, he was one of the most influential figures in Libya and sought to participate in the presidential elections in 2021.
According to Gaddafi's associates, he was killed as a result of a "direct confrontation" with four armed individuals who invaded his home in Ez-Zintan, located 160 kilometers southwest of Tripoli.
A Gaddafi advisor informed Libyan media that the attackers disabled the surveillance cameras and then killed him. This information was also confirmed by the family's lawyer, Marcel Chekcaldi.
According to Libyan sources, the assassination took place in the garden near Gaddafi's residence, where he sustained fatal injuries.
During Muammar Gaddafi's rule, his second son was one of the most influential figures in the country, despite lacking official positions, as noted by the BBC. He played a significant role in shaping Libya's foreign policy and was involved in delicate diplomatic missions.
