According to information from the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region, a report about the incident was received on January 6. During the inspection of the crime scene, law enforcement officers found a broken lock, smashed donation boxes, and signs of arson. Inside the church, a New Year tree had been burned, there was spilled oil on the floor, and church property was damaged. The criminals also destroyed surveillance cameras and cut the wires.
According to the police, ten New Year gift bags were stolen from the church shop, as well as two silver chains, five to six silver rings, 12 to 15 silver crosses, and a Wi-Fi router. Additionally, money was stolen from the cash registers and donation boxes. Moreover, they broke the windows of two cars parked near the church and stole items from their interiors.
Despite the attempted arson, according to parishioners, the church building, which is entirely made of wood, was not damaged.
In addition, the police reported a theft that occurred at the local mosque, where the criminals broke into two donation boxes and stole the money inside.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding these incidents under the article "Theft." With the help of surveillance cameras, the suspects were identified and detained. They are 22-year-old V.A., who has a previous conviction, and 15-year-old N.A., both residents of the village of Ak-Suu. They are currently in a temporary detention facility, and investigative actions are ongoing.
