In response to this loss, the Iranian government announced a 40-day mourning period and 7 days of nationwide holidays.

According to pro-government publications, at the time of his death, the Ayatollah was in his office fulfilling his duties.

As reported by the "Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran" (IRIB), "The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, and the great popular mobilization will continue the fight to protect the legacy of the supreme leader, steadfastly resisting internal and external threats, and will take revenge on the aggressors who have encroached on the Islamic homeland."

According to information from IRIB, Ayatollah Khamenei passed away yesterday morning, despite earlier Iranian authorities denying rumors of his death.

Additionally, it has been reported that the daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter of Ayatollah Khamenei also died as a result of the attacks.

The attack by Israel and the USA on Iran began on February 28 with massive air and missile strikes on key cities and military facilities. In response, Tehran attacked Israeli and American military bases located in several countries in the Middle East. As a result of the initial strikes, several high-ranking Iranian officials and military personnel were killed. Shortly after the operation "Lion's Roar" was announced by US President Donald Trump.
