Russia called for an immediate transition to political and diplomatic methods of conflict resolution and confirmed its readiness to assist in the peaceful resolution of issues based on international law and mutual respect.
Opinions of European Leaders
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, jointly expressed their concern over the events in Iran, emphasizing the importance of ensuring nuclear safety and preventing further escalation of the conflict. They called on all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to international law.
Emmanuel Macron, President of France, also commented on the current situation, calling for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council.
Macron noted: “The escalation of the conflict poses a danger to all. Iran must be ready for constructive negotiations to halt its nuclear and ballistic program, as well as to prevent destabilization in the region. The Iranian people should be given the opportunity to build their future without violence and repression.”
In Italy, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed support for the people of Iran, adding that she is ready to consult with allies to reduce tensions.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stated that the Israeli attack does not comply with international law, as preventive measures require an immediate threat.
A representative of the UK government emphasized that London is not interested in further escalation of the conflict and will support its citizens in the region.
