The State Committee for National Security warns about the risks of online radicalization of teenagers

In our time, the internet has become an important element of youth life.

The State Committee for National Security emphasizes that despite its advantages for education and communication, there is a threat of radicalization, where teenagers are drawn into extremist ideologies, including terrorism.

The process of remote radicalization involves the use of social networks, messengers, and websites, where teenagers are gradually convinced to adopt dangerous ideas that justify violence and offenses, which can lead to a change in their worldview.

In some cases, young people are trained online to create homemade explosive devices and are subjected to calls for violence against law enforcement officers. Such actions, including preparation for them, are considered criminal offenses in the Kyrgyz Republic.

In the past six months, the GKNB has identified several cases of radicalization among teenagers, including recruitment into terrorist organizations via the internet. Some of those detained were caught at the stage of preparing for terrorist acts, studying instructions on how to create explosive devices, while others were caught directly at the stage of their manufacture.

These facts pose a serious threat to the stability of society and national security. Most often, radicalization occurs unnoticed, through friendly communication and manipulation.

This involvement can negatively affect the teenager, leading to isolation from reality, influence from criminal groups, and threats to their future.

A key point is maintaining an open dialogue with youth and paying attention to their interests, which can help timely identify alarming signals. If you notice sharp changes in behavior, isolation, or aggressive views, it is important not to remain indifferent.

Parents should pay attention to the following signs:

- increased interest in computer games;

- sharp changes in behavior, withdrawal;

- distancing from family and friends;

- manifestation of aggressive or radical religious views;

- hidden contacts with strangers online;

- interest in dubious websites and closed groups;

- aggression towards parents and loved ones;

- justification of violence or unlawful actions.

Upon noticing such changes, it is important not to stand aside. Anyone can become a victim of such threats, and no parent should consider themselves immune. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the online activity of their children and engage in open conversations with them.

Creating a safe internet space is a shared responsibility. Support from family, education, and society is essential to protect children from negative influences and preserve their future. The safety of children is a task that must be addressed collectively.

Radicalization is a path to destruction. Take care of yourself, your loved ones, and society. Do not remain indifferent; protecting children is the most important task for everyone. Remember that tomorrow may be too late. Every lost moment increases the risks that can threaten not only you but also the future of all.
