The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan has developed a 72-hour training program for the professional development of school cooks.
Currently, hot meals for elementary school students are organized in 1,371 schools out of 2,262 educational institutions. All schools have cafeterias or buffets operating.
About 1,500 school cooks work in school cafeterias.
The Ministry of Education has developed and approved Qualification Requirements for school cooks. A recipe book for students is being prepared for publication.
During the summer, every third cook will undergo professional development courses.
