With the arrival of cold weather, problems with smog are returning to Bishkek. October and November are the times when the heating season begins, and along with heating the premises, exhaust fumes and smoke rise into the air.

According to monitoring conducted on November 6, Bishkek again ranked first among cities with the most polluted air, a trend also observed last year.

From October 24 to 30, 2025, the capital recorded exceedances of the maximum allowable concentrations of pollutants by up to 2.33 times. This is especially dangerous for children, the elderly, and those suffering from chronic respiratory diseases.

The "Dordoy" area is one of the busiest and most problematic. A large number of people and vehicles, including trucks and cargo, gather here daily. The dense traffic flow, the operation of warehouses and small production facilities, as well as the heating of private homes, contribute to air pollution.

To check the air quality, our editorial team visited "Dordoy." Using the IQAir device, a pollution level of 182 units was recorded, while the safe norm is 50. A level from 50 to 100 units is considered "moderate pollution," and anything above that is already dangerous to health, which is confirmed by the exceedance of 182 units.

Local residents report that they are gradually getting used to the smell of smoke. Many claim that "we no longer feel it."

"The smell is hardly noticeable for now, but as soon as they start actively heating homes, the smog will become apparent," some note. Others emphasize that polluted air negatively affects health, and the situation worsens in winter.
