According to local residents of the Issyk-Ata district, chemical substances are regularly dumped into the ditch.
They noted that the water has changed color and an unusually strong odor has appeared.
“We, the residents, are concerned about the state of our health and the health of our children. A concrete plant is located nearby; it is possible that its waste is flowing into the canal,” they stated in their appeal.
The Issyk-Ata district state administration also commented on the situation:
“Immediately after receiving the information, representatives of the Uzun-Kyr rural administration went to the scene to investigate. Indeed, there is a concrete enterprise nearby. As explained by the plant employees, the remnants of concrete that remain after washing the mixers get into the water, which leads to a change in its color. We are actively working with regional and district environmental services. Necessary measures will be taken after the investigation is completed,” the official statement said.
