This year, the "Miss Universe" pageant was at the center of controversy, reports CNN. One of the organizers, Navat Itcharagrisil, publicly reprimanded Fatima Bosh for her absence from a sponsor photo shoot. He urged her to stand up and explain her reason for missing the event. Fatima responded that she could not attend due to an agreement with the national organization, as such events require coordination. In response, Itcharagrisil called her "stupid," demanded that she be quiet, and later called security when Bosh tried to ignore him. In support of Fatima, several other contestants left the venue.
After this incident, the main office of "Miss Universe" issued an official press release condemning Itcharagrisil's behavior and apologizing. The organizer was suspended from his duties.
