The earthquake occurred at 03:04 according to the data from the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan. The epicenter was located in Uzbekistan, approximately 40 km southwest of the village of Chon-Sai, 40 km northwest of Kokand, 43 km southwest of the village of Besh-Tash, 80 km southwest of Namangan, 80 km southeast of the village of Terek-Sai, 88 km north of Batken, and 140 km southeast of Tashkent.

According to the Institute of Seismology, the intensity of the tremors in the settlements of Kyrgyzstan was: in the villages of Besh-Tash, Chon-Sai, Kok-Tash, and Tengi — 3.5 points; in the village of Terek-Sai — 3 points.
