Biometrics will replace passports when boarding flights of Aeroflot airline
Aeroflot airline plans to replace traditional passports with biometric data when boarding flights, which is expected in the second half of 2026, as announced by the company itself.
According to the airline's statement, passengers will be able to go through all stages of pre-flight control at the airport using only their biometric data, without the need to present a passport.

The biometric system will allow passengers to check in for their flight, enter the departure area, and board the plane, identifying themselves solely by their face. The implementation of this innovation will be possible after completing agreements with the relevant government authorities.

This technology has already been tested at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg in collaboration with specialists from the Center for Biometric Technologies.

As clarified by Aeroflot, passengers will be able to activate the new service in advance on the company's website. At the same time, they will still have the option to use the traditional boarding method with a passport.
