At the meeting of the permanent commission on social issues on January 23, deputy of the Bishkek city council Erjan Nasiraliyev ("Adilet") raised the issue of the fire station located on Ashar Street in the new Ak-Orgo development. Despite the opening having taken place, the facility has not yet been put into operation. What is the matter?

Colonel Cholponbaev from the Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that although the fire station was officially put into operation, the necessary staffing levels had not been determined.

Considering the population growth in Bishkek, there is a shortage of fire stations in the city. According to regulations, one such station should serve a radius of 5 km. During the administrative-territorial reform, new districts and facilities were added to the capital, which required a review of staffing levels. In this regard, the president approved new norms, and as of January 18, the ninth fire and rescue station began functioning at full capacity. The colonel noted that there are two fire crews and all necessary equipment, which allows them to work effectively.
