Turmush continues to share stories of Kyrgyzstani individuals who have found their calling abroad.

Aydai Cholponkulova, originally from Bishkek, spent part of her childhood on the shores of Issyk-Kul and grew up in Cholpon-Ata. She currently lives in the USA.

We discussed Aydai's achievements and life abroad.

— Please tell us about yourself: where are you from and what do you do in the USA?

— My name is Aydai Cholponkulova, I am 24 years old. I was born in Bishkek and spent my childhood in Cholpon-Ata. Now I live in Silicon Valley, California, where I work on technology projects and mobile applications with my co-founder. Our main project is a mental health support platform using artificial intelligence that helps people better understand themselves and take care of their mental health.

— Education in the USA: is it completed?

— I am currently finishing my studies in business administration. Previously, I studied film production at the New York Film Academy and then transferred to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for remote learning.

— Where did you study in Kyrgyzstan and what career path did you choose?

— In Kyrgyzstan, I studied clinical psychology at the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn. I also worked at the Gapar Aitiev National Museum of Arts and at the Historical and Cultural Museum in Cholpon-Ata. My mother, who is passionate about art, has always inspired me to appreciate our culture and heritage.

— How did your journey to the USA begin and what challenges did you overcome?

— My journey to the USA can be described as the "American Dream": it was difficult at first, then it became harder, and then gradually easier. It is important to have a clear goal and to approach your actions strategically.

— What are the differences between studying in the USA and studying in Kyrgyzstan?

— It depends on the specific educational institution. I studied at different universities and saw various approaches. However, education in Kyrgyzstan provided me with a strong foundation that helps me moving forward.

— Why did you decide to participate in "Miss Earth USA 2026," representing New York State?

— Participating in this competition gave me the opportunity to expand my professional experience. The competition focuses on environmental initiatives and social responsibility, which is very important to me. Additionally, it is a platform for funding and development, which is relevant for my admission to a master's program at one of the Ivy League schools.

— What advantages did participating in the competition give you?

— It was a valuable experience in public speaking. I was able to clearly convey my ideas despite the limited time for preparation. I am proud to have represented New York State and the Kyrgyz community, choosing the moment of the gala fundraising to showcase the Kyrgyz national costume.

— What was the most challenging part of the preparation process?

— I am an introvert, and it was difficult for me to step out of my usual rhythm. The competition requires full dedication: early training and a strict schedule. Speaking humorously, it was unusual for me to openly express emotions, and I noticed that I hardly smiled during the broadcast.

— Did you have moments of doubt?

— I try to stay calm and not panic. I used to be a perfectionist, but over time I realized that it is more important to complete a task than to strive for perfection. I want to inspire young women to believe in themselves and follow their own path, regardless of the circumstances.

— What would you like to say to the readers?

— Thank you for your attention to my story. I wish everyone the courage to try new things, faith in themselves, and joy from their achievements. May each day bring you closer to your dreams. I am grateful to the Turmush editorial team for the opportunity to share my experience.
