At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 28, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva drew attention to the need for an amnesty for cars that were purchased through a power of attorney.

She emphasized that hundreds of thousands of citizens are facing this situation, where they cannot find the previous owners of their cars.

One of the individuals who reached out shared that his son was stopped on the way to Issyk-Kul, the car was checked via a tablet, and it was sent to an impound lot, leaving the driver on the street. The vehicle was purchased through a power of attorney. Some cars have been in impound lots for years, and the storage costs amount to 100-150 soms per day. The bills for storage are becoming unbearable. Some owners even think that retrieving their vehicles no longer makes sense. Surabaldiyeva urged Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev to consider the possibility of an amnesty, noting that most of these cars were purchased before the procedure for issuing powers of attorney was abolished.
