Since January 28, 2026, Kyrgyzstan has imposed temporary restrictions on the import of animals and animal products from India. This decision was made by the veterinary service for livestock development, pastures, and feed in connection with the threat of the spread of the Nipah virus. The relevant information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry.

The reason for these measures is the outbreak of the Nipah virus in India, which necessitates ensuring veterinary and sanitary safety within the country.

Citizens are advised to avoid purchasing unknown animal products and to pay attention to the availability of veterinary accompanying documents.

The situation regarding this issue is under constant monitoring by the veterinary service.
