He addressed Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev, requesting information on this matter.
Tagaev, although not overseeing this area, explained that it concerns the workshop where decorations for theatrical performances were previously created. However, in recent years, this facility has been neglected.
“Government agencies have decided on the new use of this building. A plot of land measuring 25 hundredths has been allocated in the center of the capital for the Opera and Ballet Theater, where a new building is planned to be constructed,” noted the deputy minister.
Atambaev added that this space previously served not only as a workshop but also as a cloakroom and performed other functions of the theater. He emphasized that the decision to remove it was made on January 30, and its implementation should occur within 10 days, despite the protests from the theater staff. The deputy suggested that colleagues visit the site to familiarize themselves with the actual situation.
The deputy minister also reported that the building was leased in 2016 and is currently in very poor condition. He reiterated plans for the construction of a new building for the opera and ballet.
In response, Atambaev proposed gathering colleagues and visiting the site for inspection by February 13.
Committee Chair Toktobubu Ashymbaeva urged committee staff members to include this issue in the agenda of the meeting.
