At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, Innovative Development, and Information Technologies, Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Deputy Saltanat Amanova proposed an initiative regarding the provision of dormitories for students.

According to her, the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations needs to issue a corresponding order.

“In Soviet times, every student had guaranteed accommodation in a dormitory, which included libraries and cafeterias. Their studies were not distracted by everyday problems. Now, however, students are forced to work because the cost of housing is too high, leaving them with no strength or time for their studies. It is necessary to require universities to provide dormitories for all students, both on a budget basis and for fee-paying students. If a university is unable to do this, it should not accept students. Licenses should be revoked from those who cannot guarantee housing,” she stated.

Additionally, Amanova proposed establishing crisis centers to assist students who find themselves in difficult life situations.
