President Sadyr Japarov commented on the criticism from deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh regarding the reform in the field of driving schools and the process of issuing driver's licenses during a meeting with the public at the State Institution "Unaa" on February 3.

He noted that when sharp discussions arise in society, some representatives seek to draw attention to themselves, trying to please the people and their voters. "Questions about whether such actions are beneficial for the state take a back seat. Often, calls are heard: 'No! Give us 2-3 months!' or 'Leave everything as it is!', and the government is bombarded with accusations of becoming the 'enemy of the people.' Thus, it creates the impression that some act as defenders of the people, while the state finds itself on the other side of the barricades," the president said.

He emphasized the need for careful study of the issues brought to public discussion. "As the saying goes, measure seven times — cut once. It is important to understand what real benefit a particular decision will bring to citizens and the state," Japarov added.

The president also noted that if the government is indeed making mistakes, then silence is not an option. "I myself have been a deputy twice, and I have never spoken with populist cries at the microphone," he reminded.

Japarov called for open dialogue: "When such questions arise, it is important to gather representatives of the government and society at one table, to organize a discussion. Only after that should one approach the microphone with statements."
